Mother Indicted for Murder in Aliayah Lunsford Disappearance

CBSNews.com reports that Lena Marie Lunsford Conaway, who reported her three-year-old daughter, Aliayah Lunsford, missing in West Virginia in 2011, has been indicted in the toddler’s death.

Conaway is charged with murder of a child by parent by failure to provide necessities, death of a child by parent by child abuse, child abuse resulting in injury and concealment of a dead human body.

According to a criminal complaint, witnesses saw Conaway bludgeon Lunsford, causing the child to fall to the ground and die hours later. The complaint states that Conaway also withheld medical attention and prevented others from summoning help in addition to taking steps to conceal the crime.

Lunsford’s body has yet to be recovered.
