18-year-old Roxanne Paltauf vanished after leaving an Austin, Texas motel on July 7, 2006 following an alleged argument with her boyfriend of two years. Despite over a decade of investigation and the emergence of two suspects – including one man found in possession of Paltauf’s identification card – the whereabouts of the young woman remain unknown.
Paltauf’s disappearance has received considerable coverage in the Texas media and was profiled on a January 2011 episode of Investigation Discovery’s Disappeared program titled “Gone on the Fourth of July.”
Roxanne’s sister, Rubi, kindly spoke with me on the evening of January 21 to discuss her story. You can visit the Missing Roxanne Elizabeth Paltauf Facebook page managed by the Paltauf family here.
Anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Roxanne Paltauf is encouraged to telephone Capital Area Crime Stoppers at (512) 452-5223 or contact Detective Richard Faithful of the Austin Police Department Missing Persons Unit.
