CBS Pittsburgh reports that a woman abducted by her husband who was previously charged with holding her captive was found dead in a barn by police last night. The kidnapper, Kevin Ewing, was also discovered wounded with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and taken to a hospital. He has not been formally charged in his wife’s death.
Authorities say Ewing abducted his wife, Tierne, at gunpoint late Monday night. Police found the car the couple had been traveling in eight hours later and by Tuesday night had surrounded a barn in West Finley Township. After forcing their way in, officers discovered both Kevin and Tierne Ewing.
Kevin Ewing had charges pending against him for allegedly abducting Tierne and holding her captive from June 26 to July 8. He posted $100,000 bond in July and was reportedly ordered to wear a monitoring device, which he apparently cut off on Monday. This, however, did not send a signal or alarm back to the device that was monitoring it.
