CantonRep.com reports that a 31-year-old man was charged with felonious assault yesterday in connection with the sexual assault and beating of a Mineral City, Ohio boy this week.
Randy Vento appeared in New Philadelphia Municipal Court on Friday via teleconference for an initial hearing where he was officially charged with the second-degree felony.
The 11-year-old victim went missing for approximately two hours on Thursday before emerging beaten and bloodied from a wooded area near his home. Doctors expect the boy to make a full recovery, although his condition reportedly remains very serious after undergoing one surgery.
Vento’s bond has been set at $1 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
