Two Dead in Murder-Suicide at UCLA Campus, Possible Second Victim Found Dead in Minnesota (Updated)

ucla_logoCNN reports that two people were killed this morning in a murder-suicide at the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, prompting a university-wide lockdown.

The situation was contained shortly after noon. L.A. Police Chief Charlie Beck said the shooting took place in a small office in the engineering building. He also stated that police discovered a weapon and no suspects remain at large.

The campus re-opened this afternoon. Classes were cancelled for the remainder of the day, but are expected to resume tomorrow.

Beck did not know if the victims were UCLA students.

(Update: KTLA has reported the suspect as Mainak Sarkar and the victim as UCLA Professor William Klug.  A female found on Sarkar’s “kill list” was discovered dead in her Minnesota residence of apparent gunshot wounds, according to the station)
