Los Angeles police have identified the body of a woman found stabbed to death in 1969 as 19-year-old Montreal native Reet Jurvetson, reports People.
Jurvetson’s body was found by a birdwatcher on November 16, 1969. She had moved to L.A. from Montreal that year after becoming smitten with a man named “John,” according to her sister, Anne Jurvetson.
DNA evidence was used to identify Jurvetson, who was stabbed 150 times, after Anne recognized a photo of her sister posted online.
Authorities are investigating a possible link between Jurvetson’s slaying and the infamous “Manson Family” due to the timing and location of her murder, just a few miles away from several of the homicidal clan’s killings.
