The body of a Florida priest who disappeared last week has been discovered in Georgia, reports CBSNews.com.
St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar stated during a news conference last night that Rev. Rene Robert “was the victim of homicidal violence.” His body was found four miles off of Highway 56 in Waynesboro after a man arrested Wednesday in Aiken, South Carolina while driving the priest’s car led police there.
Shoar said he expected the suspect, 28-year-old Steven James Murray, to be charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder in Robert’s death, and further stated that motive was unclear, although the priest had been attempting to help Murray after he was recently released from prison.
A cause of death has yet to be determined.
