Los Angeles police have identified the body of a woman found stabbed to death in 1969 as 19-year-old Montreal native Reet Jurvetson, reports People.
Jurvetson’s body was found by a birdwatcher on November 16, 1969. She had moved to L.A. from Montreal that year after becoming smitten with a man named “John,” according to her sister, Anne Jurvetson.
DNA evidence was used to identify Jurvetson, who was stabbed 150 times, after Anne recognized a photo of her sister posted online.
Authorities are investigating a possible link between Jurvetson’s slaying and the infamous “Manson Family” due to the timing and location of her murder, just a few miles away from several of the homicidal clan’s killings.
KPIX-TV reports that the killer of a San Jose couple found dead in their home Sunday afternoon left behind two written messages.
“Sorry, my first kill was clumsy,” read a message written next to the bodies of Shamima and Golam Rabbi. Another message left on a wall of the home appeared to taunt the couple’s children, saying their mother had begged for her life and also hinted at some sort of secret relationship.

Since 1994, Kim Goldman has been universally recognized as the sister of a murder victim in the sensationally public hearing deemed the “Trial of the Century” in the annals of pop culture. Her brother, Ron Goldman, was killed alongside Nicole Brown Simpson – ex-wife of former NFL superstar O.J. Simpson – that June, leading to the one-time running back’s arrest and eventual acquittal for the crimes. A civil court jury, however, would find Simpson responsible for the deaths of Brown and Goldman in 1997.
In the near-two decades since the civil court verdict, Kim Goldman has rebuilt her life as a mother, victims rights advocate and New York Times Best-Selling author. In addition to sitting on the Board of Directors at The National Center for Victims of Crime, Goldman serves as Executive Director for the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project, a position she has held for over ten years.
A list of Kim Goldman’s books is available at her official website here, along with information on each title. Kim also co-hosts Broadscast, a radio show and podcast, along with her friend Jackie MacDougall.
Kim Goldman kindly spoke with me on April 25 to discuss her work as a victims rights advocate, thoughts on O.J. Simpson’s current incarceration, her feelings on how Ron is portrayed in the media today and other projects she is involved in.
Eight members of the same family are dead in a series of execution-style shootings in four southern Ohio homes, according to CBSNews.com.
Authorities were first alerted to the shootings just before 8:00 a.m. yesterday morning when Pike County dispatchers received a call stating that two men were possibly dead at a home in Peebles. Responding officers were flagged down and alerted to two additional crime scenes on the same road. Another 911 call led authorities to an eighth victim later in the day at a home approximately ten miles away from the three other crime scenes.
The victims have been identified as members of the Rhoden family. Seven adults were slain in addition to a 16-year-old boy. Two babies and one three-year-old child were left unharmed.
Those responsible for the slayings are still at large. Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents were called yesterday to Pike County. The FBI in Cincinnati is also closely monitoring the situation.
