WBNG reports that two teen sisters reported missing in Binghamton, New York last year have been located in Vestal after being abducted by a family acquaintance.
Authorities say Ky-Lea Fortner and Shaeleen Fitch-Fortner were living with a foster family when they were kidnapped by 29-year-old Amanda Hellman on their way to school and held against their will for the past 11 months.
A telephone tip led to the girls’ rescue. Investigators declined to comment on Hellman’s motives or how the sisters were treated in captivity.
Hellman is currently jailed without bail. Her attorney entered a plea of not guilty at her arraignment today.
The Fortner sisters are currently in the care of child protective services.
