The following was released today by the Niagara Regional Police Service:
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) wish to remind the public that 66 year old Barbara Cowsill has not been located.
Cowsill was last seen February 29, 2016 between 10:00AM and 11:00Am in the area of Thunderbay Road and Young Avenue. She is believed to have left her home on foot wearing a red coat and blue jeans.
Barbara Cowsill has not been seen or heard from since that time. The NRPS and Cowsill’s family had/have concerns for her welfare due to the ongoing cold weather and her pre-existing medical conditions.
The NRPS in an effort to locate Cowsill has conducted ground searches by foot and by all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). Shoreline searches by police and the Fort Erie Fire Service have also not been able to locate Cowsill. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office has assisted the NRPS by conducting aerial searches of the area using infrared technology. The physical search has not been able to locate Cowsill.
The NRPS and Barbara Cowsill’s family would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support on social media, and by their efforts which have included personal and private ground searches.
The NRPS are still trying to locate Cowsill, however the NRPS will not be conducting any further ground searches for Cowsill based on current investigative information available to us.
Anyone with information that may lead to her current location are asked to contact the NRPS Fort Erie Detachment at 905-688-4111 Ext 2300.
