Body of Missing Indiana Toddler Discovered, Suspect in Custody (Updated)

shaylyn_ammermanWTTV reports that the body of one-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman, who went missing in Spencer, Indiana earlier this week while visiting her father, was discovered Thursday evening in a remote area near the White River.

Shaylyn’s death has been ruled a homicide. An autopsy performed Friday revealed asphyxiation as the cause of death.

22-year-old Kyle Parker was taken into custody Thursday in connection with the murder. He is being charged with obstruction of justice, a count of failure to report a dead body and a count of unlawful disposition of a dead body.

Police say there are several more persons of interest in connection with the case.

DNA Tests Confirm Identity of Headless Torso Found in 2004

deanna_howlandInvestigators on Tuesday announced that a headless, limbless torso found at a rest stop along Interstate 70 in Ohio in June 2004 has been identified as 35-year-old Deanna Howland, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

DNA tests confirmed the identity of the remains after comparing samples from some of Howland’s relatives.

Howland, who was estranged from her family, was not reported missing until last year. The case was reopened in 2014.

Authorities declined to discuss specifics in regard to the information they received which prompted them to investigate a possible link between the torso and Howland’s missing persons case.

Kentucky Family Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

murder_suicideFour family members are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Kentucky, reports WLKY.

Authorities say 33-year-old Brad Hettinger died Sunday at his Louisville home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Hettinger’s wife and two children were also discovered dead from gunshot wounds.

The family home was set on fire following the shootings. The bodies were discovered after firefighters responded to the blaze.

Body of Murder Suspect Found in Mystic River

kenneth_manningThe Boston Globe reports that a body discovered yesterday evening in the Mystic River has been identified as 35-year-old Kenneth Manning, who was the prime suspect in the murder of Colleen Russell. Russell was found dead in her Malden, Massachusetts apartment last month.

Authorities believe the body was there for an extended period of time and prosecutors said the death did not appear to be suspicious.

Amber Alert Issued for Texas Teen After Father Found Murdered (Updated)

The body of Adriana’s father, Cesar Coronado, was found near a ditch in Walker County on Sunday. He was shot to death and badly burned.

Investigators believe Adriana was with her father at the time of the murder and feel the girl is in grave danger.
