The Plumas County News reports that a child-welfare check in East Quincy, California has led authorities to the discovery of an injured and starved 9-year-old girl as well as the bodies of two young children, aged 3 and 6, placed in a Redding storage unit.
The girl’s guardian, Tami Joy Huntsman, and her boyfriend, Gonzalo Curiel, were arrested this past Friday and are expected to face murder charges in Shasta County after being arraigned on felony charges of torture, child abuse and mayhem. Both are currently being held on $1 million bail.
The discovery of the 9-year-old in a locked vehicle led to the apprehension of Huntsman and Curiel. Following intense questioning, Curiel reportedly told police where the two younger children were located.
