CBSNews.com reports that Jim Edward Lowery, who was awaiting trial on charges of felony murder and other crimes in connection with the June death of Montgomery County Sheriff Ladson O’Connor, escaped from custody earlier today.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Lindsey Giddens said Lowery escaped while being transported to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office by deputies from nearby Treutlen County.
