Three Killed, Nine Wounded at Colorado Springs Clinic

robert_dearThree people are deceased and nine others wounded after a North Carolina man opened fire yesterday at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado, reports

57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear surrendered to authorities following a five-hour standoff with police while still inside the clinic.

Investigators did not offer a motive after interviewing Lewis today. Those who knew the suspect say he appeared to have few religious or political leanings.

DNA Tests Clear Wrongfully Convicted Man Following 16-Year Imprisonment reports that 46-year-old Luis Vargas has been exonerated after serving 16 years in prison on rape and sexual assault charges.

DNA tests not only conclusively cleared Vargas of all charges, but also showed that the notorious “Teardrop Rapist” – an unknown man wanted for 39 sexual crimes in Los Angeles – was responsible for the rape and assaults against three females in which Vargas was convicted for.

Vargas was sentenced to 55 years imprisonment in 1999.

Suspect Murders Ohio Family, Dies Following Police Chase (Updated) reports that 50-year-old Barry Kirk murdered a married couple along with their seven-year-old son in the family’s Columbus, Ohio home before being fatally shot himself by responding officers.

The victims are identified as John Anderson II, Christina Anderson and their son, Landon Anderson. The couple’s twelve-year-old daughter was also wounded by Kirk and taken to Columbus Children’s Hospital, where her condition was unknown. A fifth person was discovered inside the house unharmed.

Police were unsure what led to the shooting or if the Andersons knew Kirk.

True Crime Factor Interview: Jo Ann Lowitzer

Sixteen-year-old Alexandria Joy Lowitzer – known as “Ali” to her family and friends – disappeared on Monday, April 26, 2010 minutes after exiting her school bus in Spring, Texas. She was last seen walking in the direction of her place of employment at Cypresswood Drive and Treaschwig Road.

For five-and-half years, Ali’s loved ones have continued an undying search for the young woman, who would now be 21 years old. The Ali Lowitzer case has been featured prominently by the Texas news media, and her vanishing was profiled during a 2011 episode of Nancy Grace. Investigation Discovery also devoted an entire broadcast to the case on its Last Seen Alive program, which aired in June 2014.

Ali’s mother, Jo Ann Lowitzer, kindly spoke with me on the evening of November 22 to discuss her daughter’s disappearance and the continued search for Ali.

Suspect Charged in Murder of 7-Year-Old Kentucky Girl

gabriella_doolinCBS affiliate WTVF reports that 38-year-old Timothy Madden has been arrested and charged with the kidnapping, rape, sodomy and murder of Gabriella Doolin, aged 7, whose body was discovered Saturday evening in a creek near her brother’s youth football game in Scottsville, Kentucky.

Investigators said the death was ruled as a homicide due to the condition of the body in addition to other evidence at the scene. Few details about Madden are available at this time.

Missing Connecticut Woman’s Body Found in State Park

christine_mcguganCBS affiliate WFSB reports that the body of 48-year-old Connecticut native Christine McGugan was discovered yesterday at Rock Neck State Park, according to police.

State police issued a Silver Alert for McGugan on November 13. The mother of three was last seen leaving Lawrence & Memorial Hospital the previous day.

McGugan’s SUV was found abandoned Tuesday approximately a mile away from the park’s perimeter.

Suspect Charged in Texas Slayings (Updated)

william_hudsonKYTX in Texas reports that 33-year-old William Hudson has been charged with murder after the bodies of six people, one of whom was a child, were discovered near a private campsite in Anderson County, Texas on Sunday.

Hudson, who owns property next to the location where the bodies were found, is being held on a $2.5 million dollar bond. Additional charges are expected to follow.

The victims were members of two different families visiting from out of the area. There is reportedly one female survivor.

No motive was offered for the murders at present time.
