CBSNews.com reports that Nehemiah Griego yesterday pleaded guilty to shooting his parents and younger siblings to death in 2013. Griego entered his pleas during a hearing in an Albuquerque, New Mexico state children’s court to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of his mother and father and three counts of child abuse resulting in death in the slayings of his siblings. Griego was 15 years old at the time of the killings.
A hearing is scheduled for January to decide whether Griego, now 18, will be sentenced as a juvenile or adult. If punished as an adult, the young man’s sentence could range from probation to three life sentences plus thirty years.
