In 2007, Alexis Singer was a typical 16-year-old dealing with the same issues and dilemmas facing many young people her age. A single message from a user on a theatre-based online board one June day would initiate a two-and-a-half year ordeal for the teen that would change her life while mentally and emotionally placing her in the clutches of an Internet sexual predator.
Singer’s experience inspired her to pen a memoir titled Alexis: My True Story of Being Seduced By An Online Predator, which is part of HCI Books’ Louder Than Words series. The book is available via the HCI Books website or by pick-up/order at your local bookstore.
Alexis kindly spoke with me on the afternoon of October 13 to discuss her story, how the opportunity to write Alexis was presented and her life since the book was released.
