News9.com reports that Anthony Joseph Palma was arrested Monday evening on complaints of first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of eight-year-old Kirsten Hatfield, who was abducted from her Oklahoma home in May 1997.
Palma voluntarily provided investigators with a DNA sample after a resubmission of evidence from the case uncovered that some of the evidence had not been tested by the FBI or OSBI. Palma’s DNA reportedly matched blood found on the window sill of Hatfield’s room as well as in a pair of her undergarments discovered in the family’s backyard following the abduction.
Palma lived two houses away from the Hatfield home at the time of the crime. A body has never been found, but authorities believe the girl was killed shortly after the kidnapping.
